Senior International Real Estate Appraiser/Advisor: The position is located in the Washington DC area in the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, Planning and Real Estate, Office of Master Planning and Evaluations, Real Estate Evaluations Division. The Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) directs the worldwide overseas buildings program for the Department of State and the U.S. Government community serving abroad. In concert with other State Department bureaus, foreign affairs agencies, and Congress, OBO sets worldwide priorities for the design, construction, acquisition, maintenance, use, and sale of real properties and the use of sales proceeds.
The Real Estate Evaluations Division (EV) provides real estate appraisal and consulting services in support of a wide variety of actions for the Department. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Real Estate Appraisal and Appraisal Review
- Feasibility and Financial Analysis, Income Analyses, Lease vs. Buy Analyses and Development Analyses
- Negotiation Support
- New Embassy Site Search and Evaluation Support
- Market Survey and Fact Finding

APPRAISER TRAINEE WANTED A well-respected fee shop in Chico, CA is looking for a commercial appraisal trainee intent upon working toward a Certified General Real Estate Appraisal license with 1-2 years of recent production experience, preferably under the supervision of a designated MAI. The qualified candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with ArcView GIS or general real estate experience is a plus. Programs used in the office include Microsoft Word, Excel, Paint Shop Pro and FileMaker Pro. Substantial completion of coursework toward the license is a plus. The majority of the work is in Butte County with some in Glenn and Shasta Counties. In house databases of comparables provide for report production efficiency.
